Not flexible? Not a problem!
One of the most common things people say before trying yoga is, "I'm not flexible enough." The truth is, your level of flexibility does not matter—it may develop over time with regular practice though.
Yoga is a practice of connecting movement, breath, and awareness. It allows each person to begin exactly where they are, regardless of age, experience, or physical ability. Whether you can touch your toes or not has nothing to do with your ability to benefit from a yoga practice.
Many poses can be modified to fit your body and your needs. Props such as blocks, bolsters, blankets, and chairs (which are available to you at the studio) help make postures more accessible and comfortable. The goal is not to force your body into a shape, but rather to move in a way that feels supportive and sustainable.
Beyond physical flexibility, yoga helps cultivate qualities that are even more valuable: patience, balance, strength, focus, and resilience. It provides an opportunity to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with your internal world in the midst of a busy external world.
At Sacred Energy, classes are designed to be welcoming and accessible to all levels. Whether you are stepping onto a mat for the first time or returning after many years, you are encouraged to move at your own pace and honor your body's unique needs.
Yoga isn't about touching your toes. It's about discovering what happens along the way.
You do not need to be flexible to begin practicing yoga.
You simply need to begin.
