The Impact of Slowing Down

How often do you intentionally slow down in your day?
How often do you take meaningful breaks from screens (all screens, not just switching from one to another)?
How often do you take slow, deep, full breaths?
As a reaction to a fast-paced modern world, slow flow yoga is starting to make a big impact. Slow flow yoga is the perfect way to incorporate additional mindfulness strategies into your everyday life. But what is it?

Slow flow yoga classes at Sacred Energy use similar sequences to the dynamic Vinyasa class, but without the sun salutations and continuous vinyasa transitions, creating a slower-paced practice with longer, more grounding holds in each posture.
Slower movements are good for your overall mental well-being, and by rooting yourself in the moment, stress and anxiety can often fade away. You may also find that with consistent practice, slow flow yoga may help you break a busy stress-filled lifestyle into manageable, mindful experiences.
But it’s not just all in your head. Slow flow yoga is exercise! You are engaging and pushing your muscles while you hold each posture longer than you would in other styles of yoga. You won’t usually work up a sweat or increase your heart rate in class, but the low-impact workout is gentle on joints, while improving your physical stamina, strength, and flexibility.
Explore slow flow alone, or with a small group of friends that also want to bring more mindfulness into their daily lives. You may be surprised at what you experience completing slow, mindful movements. Classes are beginner friendly, accessible to all ages and body types.
Slow flow classes are offered at Sacred Energy every Tuesday from 6:00-7:00pm, offering a perfect wind-down after a busy workday.
